Hey there, Gamers and Game Makers!
Last week, I announced my new game, Hide The Body, which is coming out at the end of the month. So, for this week I decided to keep with the theme of announcements and share another. Yep, I'm writing a book. This isn't exactly something new that I've just decided to do. I've already been working on this for the better part of a year now. It still has quite a way to go before being complete but there's enough there for me to talk a bit about what it contains. I was toying with the idea of a book for a long time before I started it and the what held me back was a combination of self doubt and what the book would even be about exactly. I knew I wanted it to be about games and games design but with so many books already out there explaining game design on a technical level far better than I ever could, I felt a bit stuck on which way to go with it. I finally decided that given how personal games and games development is to me that the book itself should take more of a personal approach towards game design. So, the idea of the book is to not only be an educational look at games design, but also a personal account of my experience in games development over the last ten years. I guess the book is partly game design and partly autobiographical in a sense. A big motivation for me to finish this and to even talk about it now has been the positive reaction to these blogs and the engorgement from lecturers in college who I've spoken to about the book. While there's still a lot to before it's finished, I do hope to complete it in the near future and share more about it in detail then. As for now, blogs will continue with tutorials and more. Until next time! |
